• Sugar Sand Park: six indoor wood courts, first-come first-served with no reservations, $2 for residents and $5 for non-residents.
• The Palms Indoor Pickleball at the Boca Raton Innovation Campus: seven climate-controlled indoor courts, open 24/7 by reservation, run by a family that also built local Orangetheory Fitness and Restore Hyper Wellness locations.
• Life Time Boca Raton: part of the national chain's 600-plus court network, with open play, mixers, and lessons booked through the Life Time app, court time complimentary for Signature members.

The 2026 Boca Open at Patch Reef

The 2026 Boca Open also highlights the available courts. For three years, the region's marquee winter tournament, the Boca Open, ran out of the Delray Beach Tennis Center. In 2026 it moved to Patch Reef, where the newly finished covered courts hosted nearly 600 players from February 26 through March 1, including a charity exhibition headlined by Ivan Lendl benefiting his Adaptive Sports Program.

Patch Reef is a city-owned facility built through a public bond and operated by parks staff. Its covered courts hosted a four-day national-caliber tournament with hundreds of competitors. The tournament offers one example of how the existing public courts serve players while the planned North Park facility is under construction.

North Park and the planned Boca Paddle facility

The other side of Boca's pickleball build-out sits on land with a longer history. In 2018, the Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District bought the defunct Ocean Breeze Golf Course in the Boca Teeca section of east Boca Raton, a 74.72-acre site that sat mostly vacant for years while the district planned what to do with it. The bond on that purchase wasn't due to be retired until sometime around 2032. The district paid it off in the summer of 2025, nearly seven years early, which is the kind of quiet municipal detail that actually matters here: it's why construction on the rest of the site could accelerate rather than wait out the original debt schedule.

The site is being redeveloped as North Park, and the anchor project inside it is Boca Paddle by CityPickle, a public-private partnership between the district and the New York-based pickleball operator. The scope of that project has grown considerably since it was first approved. When Boca Raton's planning board signed off in September 2024, the plan called for a 77,218-square-foot building with 14 indoor pickleball courts, two indoor padel courts, and nine outdoor pickleball courts. The version under construction today is bigger: a 100,000-square-foot, $20 million facility with 19 pickleball courts (14 indoor, four outdoor covered, plus a stadium court) and six padel courts, along with saunas, cold plunge pools, a coworking lounge, and a restaurant run by the Boca-based Farmer's Table.

The project's opening target has changed since the project was announced. Construction broke ground in June 2025 with a target of "early 2026." By March 2026, CityPickle's own announcement had revised that to Fall 2026, tying the opening to Boca Paddle becoming the home base for the newest Major League Pickleball franchise, the Palm Beach Royals, featuring pro Tyson McGuffin. The club's investor roster includes Boca Raton residents and top-ranked pros Anna Bright, Ben Johns, JW Johnson, Jorja Johnson, and Gabriel Tardio, alongside the national club operator Life Time. As Boca Paddle co-founder Brian Levine put it when the project broke ground:

"This groundbreaking facility positions Boca Raton to cement its status as the paddle capital of the world."

The facility is one part of a broader North Park plan, with other amenities at different stages.

A Traffic Garden, a bike-safety learning space for kids with restrooms and shaded seating, is open to the public while Boca Paddle remains under construction. The district's long-term plan for the rest of the site includes a dog park, community garden, six miles of walking and mountain-biking trails connecting to the El Rio Trail, and eventually a nine-hole golf course and driving range, though those remain future phases. A district commissioner summed up the pace of the whole effort well when describing 2024's accomplishments:

"From an accomplishment perspective, it's exceptional they are all coming together right now."
